History
Westford, although settled in earlier years, received its own name and council in 1729. By the 1800s Westford was known for its apples, granite, and yarn. The yarn was made at The Abbot Worsted Company. They used camel hair to make wool and were the first company to do so.
After the Civil War and the introduction of the car Westford grew significantly. It became home to many who worked in nearby Lowell and Boston.
During the 60s the military had a number of research projects. One of these was done through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was carried out in Westford. They explored weaknesses within the military and sought to rectify them.
Then in the 70s Westford was no longer just a home to those who worked in factories nearby, it had its own major companies too. Many of these companies focus on technological advancement. This made Westford a technological hub.
In fact, what we now know as Nokia and Samsung began, in part, in the 90s in Westford. Cascade Communications was a communications company that was established in the tech hub. It then joined with Nokia, Samsung, and other major names.
For the sports lovers, Westford is also home to the Puma head office and they host an annual race in Westford.
Westford Today
Today Westford is home to over twenty-four thousand people. Most of these people graduated from high school and university. With the many great tech companies operating in the area most people here have white-collar jobs. In fact, Westford has more people in the technological and mathematical fields than almost any other place in the country. It should come as no surprise then that the average income is above the national average. Each Westford local earns an average of fifty-six thousand dollars, making the average household income well over one hundred and forty thousand dollars. This might be a great time to contact movers in Westford.
This allows more than eighty percent of the people in the area to afford their own homes. Homes which cost, on average, six hundred and thirty-three thousand dollars. Despite these prices, people are drawn to the area. Something that may contribute to people’s desire to live in Westford is the fact that it is a whopping ninety-three percent safer than any other place in the United States!

Unlike many other places in Massachusetts, Westford is diverse. Many Asian immigrants live here and this means that the area is not only English but Mandarin as well. These are the two most popular languages in the world. The youth can therefore learn Mandarin easier than in other places, putting them a step ahead of the rest.

Birdlife and beautiful nature. There is also a pond, here. People who visit are invited to use the watering-can left there to water the plants. The place also has some lovely history- next to the pond is a memorial built by children who lost a loved one in the war.

J.V Fletcher Library
Much like the rest of Westford, this is a great place for the whole family. This is not just a normal library with books, it is also a library with a community. They host events and create a welcoming space for people to read and relax. You can even take as long as you like to read your book without stressing that you may be fined. They also have a seed garden, you can ‘borrow’ seeds from here too, and then when your plant grows you bring the seeds they produce back for the next person.

The many fun-filled activities draw large crowds that create an exciting atmosphere for all.
